SEPTEMBRE 2023

There is just something about thinking about the spring of 2024. When the days become brighter and longer that makes us want to tidy up our houses and organize our houses!

Some historians trace "spring cleaning" to the Persian New Year, which falls on the first day of spring, while others suggest it may have originated with the cleaning of Jews in anticipation of Passover.

Even though it's a long-standing tradition, spring cleaning can be a difficult task. So before you get started, read this guide we've put together to help you get ready to get the job done.

  1. Take it step by step

A Common Mistake When Spring Cleaning Your Home the whole house is about being overly ambitious in trying to do everything in one day. Not only can this cause you to feel defeated, but you can also end up creating a mess without having time to tidy up.

Instead, take it one room at a time. Finish cleaning one room before moving on to another will give you a greater sense of accomplishment than trying to clean multiple rooms piece by piece. Don't worry about telling yourself you have to clean the room by a certain time, take the time you need.

Most importantly, make it fun! Turn on the radio or your favorite podcast and lean in.

  1. Get ready for a big spring cleaning

Just like a chef gathers all his ingredients, tools and gadgets before starting to cook, you should do the same before you start cleaning. This will save you time because you won't have to run to the cupboard under the kitchen sink looking for cleaning supplies.

If you have the space, separate your cleaning products per room, e.g. bathroom tile grout cleaning products, kitchen degreasing cleaning products.

Major cleaning essentials include:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Cleaning cloths
  • A good vacuum cleaner
  • Eco-friendly multi-surface cleaning spray
  • Mirror spray| ||103
  • Eau de Javel
  • Old toothbrush
  • Floor cleaner
  • Mop and bucket. For deep cleaning, opt for a steam cleaner
  1. Ecological cleaning

Want a greener alternative?

Save time and energy money using cupboard items you probably already own.

  • Vinegar is great for removing limescale buildup from taps (but not gold-plated ones) and shower screens. It's also great when it comes to cleaning windows
  • Mix half baking soda and half water to make a scrubbing paste. It is ideal for removing stains from countertops, sinks, cabinets, oven doors and pans.
  • Lemon juice is a natural bleach. Use it to remove stains from cutting boards by rubbing with fresh lemon (or bottled product) and let sit overnight. It is also effective in removing rust stains. Also add half a capful in your laundry to lighten whites.

  1. Deal with the mess before you start

Have with you some trash bags or storage boxes so you can sort the things you want to keep, store, recycle, sell, donate to charity or throw away. Be honest with yourself and be ruthless: you almost certainly need less than you have!

If you can, move all your clutter to another room before you start cleaning, so not having to move boxes and bags.

  1. Start with the ceiling

Once you have chosen your room, work from top to bottom. Dust can move onto furniture, floors, carpets. So, for example, wiping down the fireplace in front of the mirror will just let the dust settle on the clean surface and be more work for you. This order is to remember: dust, vacuum, mop the floors.

  1. Prevention is the key

A big clean will be much easier if you establish house rules that reduce damage. Try these:

  • Place an empty baking sheet on the lowest rack of your oven to catch spills.
  • Put sheets of old newspaper in the bottom of trash bags to absorb liquids and prevent them from flowing into your trash can.
  • Wash the tiles and splashback in your kitchen once a month
  • Spray the shower surfaces after every use to stop limescale buildup. Make your own solution by using an empty spray bottle and adding half water and half distilled white vinegar.
  1. Let your appliances do the heavy lifting

Nettoyer les filtres de la hotte aspirante ou les étagères de votre réfrigérateur au lave -vaisselle signifie que vous passerez moins de temps à récurer – assurez-vous simplement qu’ils vont au lave-vaisselle !

Use the tools of your vacuum cleaner, such as the crevice tool and the upholstery nozzle, to make moving around the house much more efficient
